Bulgaria reciclează peste 75% din ambalajele din sticlă / Sistemul de colectare acoperă 95% din populație

In 2025, over 75% of glass packaging in Bulgaria was collected and recycled, according to Georgi Slavchev from Ecobulpack Bulgaria. The country meets EU recycling targets, with collection rates increasing annually. Preliminary data for 2024 suggests a collection rate of 80-85%. Effective public education and financial incentives could further enhance collection rates. Bulgaria has three major glass recycling plants, allowing for internal recycling. Recycled glass is used to produce new bottles and jars, reducing the need for raw materials. Slavchev advocates for a national platform to improve collection and share experiences with other European countries. Currently, over 6.5 million Bulgarians have access to separate waste collection systems.
