Bulgaria's poverty threshold will rise to 443 euros monthly starting January 2027, affecting 1.37 million citizens. The increase of 13.4% will enhance various social support measures. The Ministry of Labor estimates that the proportion of the population living in poverty will decrease slightly. However, the approved threshold is lower than the unions' request of 467 euros. In contrast, Romania's poverty threshold is calculated based on income and will be set for 2026 after data collection.
