Bulgaria deblochează procedura schimbării sexului în documentele oficiale
The Bulgarian Supreme Court has authorized the change of gender in civil status documents, marking a significant legal shift. This decision follows a recent ruling by the Court of Justice of the European Union, which emphasized that national laws should not hinder the recognition of gender identity. The court's ruling allows for the resumption of cases regarding gender modification in civil registries, which had been stalled since 2020. Bulgaria, alongside Hungary, was one of the last EU countries without legal recognition of gender identity.
