She highlighted the region's critical role in European and global security, especially in light of the Russia-Ukraine war, which has worsened security conditions. Iotova condemned recent attacks on commercial vessels as acts of war, threatening international navigation principles. She mentioned a consensus among national security advisors to establish a European framework to enhance navigation safety in the Black Sea, aiming to utilize existing capacities rather than create new structures. Iotova stressed the need for the Black Sea to be a zone of stability and peace.
