Bulgaria aprobă folosirea bazei Bezmer de către aviația militară americană. Localnicii pregătesc proteste
The Bulgarian Parliament has approved the use of Bezmer airbase by the U.S. military for operations in the Middle East, sparking local discontent. Between July 24 and October 1, 2026, up to eight KC-135 tankers and 250 U.S. personnel will be stationed there. The decision followed a request from the U.S. under a defense cooperation agreement. Prime Minister Rumen Radev emphasized that the aircraft will only conduct logistical missions, not combat operations. Opposition parties and local authorities expressed concerns about security risks, with some mayors and residents opposing the military presence. Protests are planned if the decision is implemented.
