The Romanian government approved Metrorex's budget for 2026, projecting total revenues of 1.797 billion lei, a decrease of 23.19% from 2025. Operating revenues will account for nearly all income, with subsidies expected to drop by 12.77%. The budget includes a subsidy of 761.49 million lei, covering 59.65% of the estimated compensation needs. Despite a projected increase in passenger numbers, total expenses are set to decrease by 21.08% to 2.093 billion lei, with personnel costs rising. Estimated losses will decline by 5.31% to 295.5 million lei. Investment expenditures will focus on expanding metro lines and acquiring new trains.
