Bucharest is set to receive €87.44 million for public transport improvements, including new trams, trolleybuses, and electric buses. The funding, confirmed by the European Investment Bank, is non-repayable, with the city only covering VAT. Mayor Ciprian Ciucu emphasized this investment will modernize the STB fleet, enhancing public transport quality and reducing pollution. The project includes 10 new trams, 45 trolleybuses, and 40 electric buses, replacing older models. Ciucu highlighted the need for charging infrastructure for the electric buses to ensure efficient operation from day one.
