Bucureștean arestat din greșeală după ce a fost confundat de polițiști cu autorul unui furt
A man was wrongfully identified and arrested for theft in Bucharest, later acquitted after the court found he was not the perpetrator. The incident occurred on November 28, 2024, when he was caught stealing perfume but lacked identification. His identity was mistakenly confirmed through police databases. Initially detained for 24 hours, he faced judicial control and later preventive arrest due to alleged non-compliance. After being apprehended in June 2025, he was presented to a judge, who later replaced preventive arrest with judicial control. Ultimately, the court acquitted him on June 18, 2026, after evidence showed he was not involved in the theft. A new investigation is underway to find the actual thief.
