BREAKING | Primarul Ciucu anunță că, de la anul, mașinile foarte poluante vor fi interzise în centrul Bucureștiului, apoi în tot orașul • Știri București
Bucharest's mayor, Ciprian Ciucu, announced a ban on highly polluting vehicles starting November 2027, with a phased approach. Initially, non-Euro cars will be restricted in the city center, expanding to all of Bucharest by 2032. Vehicles with Euro 1, 2, and 3 standards will face total bans, while Euro 5 cars will also be restricted in central areas. This initiative follows the new Urbanism Code, effective August 2026, mandating municipalities to establish low-emission zones. Currently, there are nearly 1.3 million old and polluting cars registered in Bucharest and Ilfov. The plan includes gradually limiting access for lower-emission vehicles and replacing heating systems that use wood and coal.
