The insolvency case of Bucharest Transport Company (STB) has been registered in court, following the approval of the mayor's proposal to initiate the procedure. This decision aims to prevent the company's bankruptcy. The City Council voted in favor of the insolvency on July 21, with 39 votes for and seven abstentions. Currently, STB employs 9,504 staff, with plans to lay off 800 employees as part of an efficiency plan, allowing up to 200 to leave voluntarily with compensation. Mayor Ciprian Ciucu emphasized that insolvency is the only viable solution to save the company from financial collapse.
