The Bucharest Tribunal has approved STB's insolvency request, appointing a provisional judicial administrator. The consortium EURO INSOL SPRL, TURMAC INSOLVENCY SPRL, and CERES INSOLV SPRL will oversee the process. Key deadlines include the claims registration by October 23, 2026, and the preliminary claims table by November 12. The first creditors' meeting is set for November 17, 2026. STB currently employs 9,504 staff, with plans for voluntary departures. Mayor Ciprian Ciucu emphasized the necessity of this insolvency for the public transport system's sustainability, which heavily impacts the city budget. He also called for increased contributions from surrounding municipalities to support STB's operations.
