BREAKING. Deficitul bugetar rămâne sub 3% din PIB, după 8 luni din 2026

Romania's budget deficit decreased to 2.89% of GDP in the first eight months of 2026, down from 4.51% in the same period of 2025. This reduction of 1.62 percentage points keeps the deficit below the 3% threshold. The total budget deficit reached 59.42 billion lei, significantly lower than the previous year's 86.36 billion lei. Revenues increased by 11.4%, outpacing expenditure growth of 4.2%. The Minister of Finance emphasized the importance of fiscal discipline and prioritizing essential investments to maintain this positive trend amid external pressures. Overall, the data indicates a continued fiscal consolidation process, supported by European funding and effective revenue measures.
