Romania's consolidated budget execution for the first half of 2026 shows a deficit of 2% of GDP, down from 3.64% in 2025, indicating fiscal consolidation. Total revenues reached 342.52 billion lei, a 10.3% increase, driven by higher tax collections, particularly from VAT and income taxes. Expenditures decreased to 18.66% of GDP, with a nominal total of 383.55 billion lei, reflecting efforts to control current spending. Notably, investments funded by EU grants rose significantly, highlighting the importance of European financing for public projects.
