The Ministry of Finance reported a significant budget deficit reduction to 3.82% of GDP for the first nine months of 2026, down from 5.35% in 2025. Total revenues increased by 11.8% year-on-year, reaching 522.07 billion lei, while total expenditures rose nominally by 5.5% to 600.59 billion lei. Key revenue sources included VAT and contributions, with notable growth in tax collections. The government also saw a rise in EU funds, particularly for the National Recovery and Resilience Plan (PNRR). Overall, the budget execution reflects improved fiscal management and increased funding for investments, despite rising interest and social assistance costs.
