This alarming decrease poses risks to the Cernavodă Nuclear Power Plant, which relies on the river for cooling. Authorities have implemented emergency measures, including diverting a branch of the Danube to ensure the plant's operation. A state of alert has been declared in two counties, and a national alert will be in effect throughout August. Controlled explosions are being conducted to increase water flow to the plant.
