A suspect has been charged with voter corruption for allegedly offering gifts and cryptocurrency to influence votes for a presidential candidate in 2024. The prosecutor's office claims Bogdan Peșchir provided approximately $290,226 in gifts via TikTok and cryptocurrency transfers. The actions occurred between October 13 and November 27, 2024, involving 874 acts of corruption. Investigators found that 868 virtual gifts worth over $251,000 were sent to users, alongside six cryptocurrency transfers totaling around $39,160. The scheme included paying influencers to promote the candidate and offering incentives to users to sway their votes. The case has been forwarded to the Brașov Court for trial.
