The Copernicus Climate Change Service reported that this August matched July 2023 as the hottest month ever recorded. The rising global temperatures are linked to greenhouse gas emissions and a strong El Niño event, affecting major rivers in Europe, including the Danube, which faced significantly reduced water levels.
