The FAA has granted Boeing a waiver from new emission standards, allowing the sale of 35 additional 777F cargo planes after 2028. This exception extends Boeing's sales period by three years, addressing high customer demand and delays in the certification of the next-generation 777-8F, expected to enter service around 2029. Without this waiver, Boeing would have faced a production halt, risking over $15 billion in exports. The new emission regulations, effective January 1, 2028, aim to reduce carbon pollution from large aircraft, but do not affect planes already in service. The FAA estimates that these additional planes could increase global cargo operations by about 2%.
