The Pentagon has selected Boeing to develop the F/A-XX, the future sixth-generation fighter for the US Navy, with a contract exceeding $20 billion. This aircraft will replace the Super Hornet and Growler by the 2030s. Boeing's win strengthens its position in US military aviation programs, as it also works on the F-47 for the Air Force. The F/A-XX aims to enhance mission system architecture and integrate advanced technologies. Boeing is prepared to develop multiple advanced fighter programs simultaneously, supported by a new production facility in Missouri. Northrop Grumman, Boeing's main competitor, expressed interest in the selection process.
