BNR schimbă prognoza pentru inflație. Isărescu: "Nu ne așteptăm la o revenire rapidă a creșterii economice"

The National Bank of Romania has raised its inflation forecast for the end of 2026 from 5.5% to 6.1% due to the impact of heatwaves and drought on energy production. Governor Mugur Isărescu noted that while inflation is expected to decrease in the coming months, a rapid economic recovery is not anticipated. The bank highlighted declining consumer demand and purchasing power as significant concerns. Despite a stagnation in the economy, corporate borrowing remains strong. Isărescu emphasized the importance of EU fund absorption for economic growth and warned of ongoing risks from energy prices and external conflicts. The bank expects inflation to return to target levels by late 2027.
