BNR projects annual inflation rate will fall to 2.8% by end of second quarter of 2028

The National Bank of Romania forecasts inflation rates of 6.1% for 2023, decreasing to 3.4% by the end of 2027 and 2.8% by mid-2028. The inflation rate is expected to decline significantly, particularly in late 2026, influenced by previous shocks. The updated projections show an upward revision compared to earlier estimates, with risks leaning towards higher inflation due to geopolitical tensions and energy crises. However, a potential decline in demand may counteract these pressures.
