BNR menține dobânda-cheie la 6,5%. Inflația ar putea crește, estimează Banca Națională
The National Bank of Romania (BNR) has decided to maintain the monetary policy interest rate at 6.50% despite a significant decrease in inflation. The central bank warns that inflation may rise again by the end of the year due to increasing prices of fuels and energy. The BNR also kept the lending facility rate at 7.50% and the deposit facility rate at 5.50%. Although inflation dropped to 6.17% in August, the BNR anticipates potential upward pressure from various economic factors. Economic activity has stagnated, with a slight contraction in the second quarter of 2026. The BNR emphasizes the importance of utilizing European funds to mitigate negative impacts from budget consolidation and external conflicts. The next monetary policy meeting is scheduled for November 12, 2026.
