The National Bank of Romania will launch a new series of collectible coins dedicated to famous Romanian painters, starting August 24, 2026. The first coin honors Nicolae Tonitza and is the first rectangular coin issued by the bank. This silver coin, valued at 10 lei, features a glossy background with matte relief images and weighs over 31 grams. It showcases Tonitza's painting 'Flori galbene' and comes with a presentation brochure and authenticity certificate. A total of 500 pieces will be minted, priced at 1,150 lei, and will be available through regional branches of the bank.
