BNR: Depozitele la bănci ale firmelor şi populaţiei au crescut cu 0,5% în august 2026, faţă de luna precedentă

In August 2026, deposits of non-government resident clients increased by 0.5% compared to the previous month, reaching 688.280 billion lei. Year-on-year, this represents an 8.8% rise. Deposits in lei, which account for 67.8% of total deposits, grew by 0.7% from July 2026. Household deposits in lei decreased by 0.4% from the previous month but increased by 7% year-on-year. Other sectors saw a 2.2% rise in deposits in lei. Foreign currency deposits, making up 32.2% of total deposits, rose by 0.3% from July 2026. Compared to August 2025, these deposits increased by 9.7% in lei. Overall, the credit to the non-government sector grew by 8.2% in the last year.
