BNR: Depozitele în lei ale populației au scăzut în august. Economiile în valută au continuat să crească

In August, the deposits of the population in lei decreased by 0.4%, while foreign currency savings increased, according to the National Bank of Romania. Lei deposits reached 269.617 billion lei, showing a 7% annual increase but only 0.8% in real terms. In contrast, foreign currency deposits rose by 0.2% to 152.07 billion lei, with a 9.1% annual increase in lei. Crediting in foreign currency surged by 17% compared to August 2025, while total credit increased by 0.9% from July. Government credit also saw a rise of 1.3% from the previous month and 13.2% year-on-year.
