According to Bloomberg, Russia has adopted a 'war until the end' strategy, tightening its demands on Ukraine after the collapse of the 'Anchorage spirit'. Following a 2025 summit between Putin and Trump, Russia aims to gain unoccupied territory in Donbas while retaining occupied areas in Sumy and Kharkiv as a buffer zone. Ukrainian President Zelensky rejected the proposal, insisting on ending the conflict along the front line. The Kremlin believes the U.S. has abandoned informal agreements made during the summit. Russia is willing to negotiate only after fully occupying the Donetsk region, although military leaders estimate this goal may not be achievable until 2027.
