The blockage on the Sulina Canal is worsening, affecting ships trying to reach the Black Sea. Currently, around 13 vessels are waiting to leave the canal, with delays extending to 3-4 days instead of the usual 24 hours. This situation has led to increased transportation costs for grain from Ukrainian ports on the Danube. Katerina Kononenko from Avalon Shipping reported that many ships are stuck, with some waiting in the Ceatal area. The congestion is impacting both entry and exit, and if it continues, waiting times may increase further. Analysts noted a rise in transport costs, with prices for shorter routes increasing by about $10 per ton and up to $25 for longer destinations. Barge transport rates have also risen significantly, affecting overall shipping costs.
