Magdalena Andersson, leader of Sweden's Social Democratic Party, announced her resignation as Prime Minister after failing to secure a governing majority. Despite her party winning a majority in the elections, the Left Party chose to support another candidate, complicating her efforts. Andersson stated that there is currently no possibility for her to form a government. The Left Party's support for a candidate from the Moderate Party further hindered her attempts. Following her decision, the Speaker of Parliament will assign another party leader to try to form a government, with Ulf Kristersson being a potential candidate. Sweden has a history of lengthy negotiations for government formation, with previous instances taking up to 134 days.
