Construction on a challenging section of the Sibiu-Pitești Highway is hindered by the lack of an updated environmental agreement. CNAIR's director, Cristian Pistol, criticized the Environment Minister for not issuing the necessary permits. Currently, only 45% of the planned work can proceed due to these restrictions. Despite this, progress continues, with the second tunnel gallery of Boița 1 recently completed. Other tunnels, Balota and Robești, are also under construction, with varying completion rates. The entire project, valued at 4.25 billion lei, aims to enhance connectivity between Transylvania and Muntenia.
