Father Fransiskus Laka, originally from Indonesia, has adapted to life in Poland over 27 years and serves in a rural parish. The Polish Catholic Church is facing a significant shortage of priests, leading to the merging of seminaries and a call for foreign seminarians. The situation is critical, with some seminaries closing and others struggling with low enrollment. The Diocese of Ełk exemplifies this trend, having recently ordained a deacon from Togo, highlighting the church's reliance on international clergy to sustain its operations.
