Bill on educational rights of national minorities, challenged by associations of Romanians in Ukraine

Three Romanian organizations in Ukraine have urged Bucharest to intervene regarding a draft law that threatens Romanian-language education. They submitted a memorandum to key Romanian officials, highlighting concerns over the preservation of Romanian schools and educational rights. The draft law, currently under review by Ukraine's parliament, could limit educational opportunities for the Romanian community. The organizations emphasize the constitutional right to education in one's mother tongue and call for legislative amendments to protect this right. They seek to ensure that Romanian remains the primary language of instruction and advocate for exceptions to prevent the closure of minority classes due to low enrollment.
