Biblia de la București, comoara de pe Calea Victoriei. Tipăritura a pecetluit definitiv înlocuirea limbii slavone în cultul religios • Vechiul București
The Bible of Bucharest, commissioned by Prince Șerban Cantacuzino, is a cornerstone of the Romanian literary language. It represents the first complete translation of the Holy Scriptures, fostering a shared cultural consciousness among Romanians. Scholars of the 17th century faced the challenge of translating ancient texts into a less developed Romanian, creating new terms and phrases. The translation process involved significant contributions from various historical provinces and was financially supported by Cantacuzino. The Bible not only served as a sacred text but also as a powerful symbol of national identity, leaving a lasting linguistic legacy.
