BEI va realiza prima sa investiţie în reactoare nucleare modulare mici
The European Investment Bank (EIB) announced its first investment in small modular reactors (SMRs), aiming to support the development of next-generation nuclear technologies in Europe. SMRs, which are smaller than conventional reactors, can be factory-built and transported, offering a flexible energy production solution. EIB will provide a €40 million loan to Finnish startup Steady Energy for a 50-megawatt SMR designed for local heating networks. This investment is part of EIB's broader strategy to support SMR technology, with the first European SMRs expected to be operational by the early 2030s. The move signals positive support for nuclear energy amid differing EU member state opinions on nuclear power.
