Bebelușii cu mame anemice pot avea un creier mai mic. Copilul poate fi afectat chiar și la școală
A study indicates that babies born to anemic mothers have smaller brains, particularly in areas related to movement, learning, and emotional regulation. Researchers from King’s College London and the University of Cape Town found that over a third of pregnant women globally suffer from anemia, which can lead to cognitive issues as children start school. The study tracked over 300 mothers and their infants, revealing that babies of anemic mothers had brains 4% smaller on average. Key brain regions affected include the putamen, caudate nucleus, and corpus callosum. The differences persisted into early childhood, emphasizing the need for anemia screening and treatment during pregnancy to mitigate these effects.
