BCE vrea să extindă influența globală a euro

The European Central Bank (ECB) aims to enhance the euro's global role by providing financial safety systems to foreign countries, according to ECB Chief Economist Philip Lane. Speaking at an event in Shanghai, Lane highlighted strong demand for the ECB's expanded euro liquidity facility, with over 30 central banks expressing interest. This initiative aligns with ECB President Christine Lagarde's efforts to capitalize on the euro's global moment amid uncertainties surrounding the US dollar. Lane noted that increasing euro usage could improve the ECB's ability to manage inflation and boost the eurozone bond market. He emphasized that liquidity arrangements should be reserved for central banks with strong financial ties to the eurozone.
