BCE majorează dobânda de politică monetară la 2,5% și lasă de înțeles că ar putea urma și alte majorări
The European Central Bank raised its key interest rate to 2.5% to combat rising inflation driven by energy costs from the Iran conflict. This marks the second increase in 2026, following a previous hike in June. The ECB indicated potential further increases due to ongoing uncertainties in the Middle East and high energy prices, which have pushed eurozone inflation to its highest level in nearly three years. The bank revised its economic growth forecast for 2026 to 0.9% and projected an average inflation of 3% for this year. August saw inflation rise to 3.3%, the highest since September 2023, amid rising oil prices and restricted maritime traffic through the Strait of Hormuz.
