On Thursday evening, storage batteries became a significant energy source for Romania as Cernavodă's reactor 2 ceased operations. Nearly 700 MW were supplied from storage capacities, closely matching the nuclear unit's previous output. Prosumers have been actively injecting stored energy into the grid during peak evening hours, although some are hesitant due to low compensation rates. The situation could worsen if wind energy production declines or if energy imports from Bulgaria decrease. However, measures are in place to manage consumption among large industrial users to maintain balance in the energy system.
