Bătălia uitată a lui Mihai Viteazul. 431 de ani de la cea mai mare victorie a voievodului asupra otomanilor • Newsweek România

The lesser-known battle of Mihai Viteazul against the Ottomans, fought on October 15, 1595, marked a significant victory for the Romanian leader. Following his earlier triumph at Călugăreni, Mihai faced the challenge of Ottoman occupation led by Sinan Pașa. After regrouping with Transylvanian allies, Mihai launched a successful campaign, culminating in the decisive battle at Giurgiu. The combined forces overwhelmed the disorganized Ottoman troops, leading to a massive defeat for Sinan. This victory not only liberated thousands but also allowed Mihai to focus on unifying the Romanian principalities, paving the way for the eventual unification of Transylvania, Wallachia, and Moldavia in 1600.
