Băsescu labeled Georgescu a 'charlatan' and expressed doubt that his electoral support would transfer to other political figures. Georgescu has been detained by DIICOT for alleged fraud involving 1.1 million euros, with a proposal for preventive arrest pending. This marks the third case against him, including charges related to legionary propaganda and actions against constitutional order.
