Romanian farmers may purchase agricultural diesel without VAT and excise starting in 2027, as announced by the proposed Minister of Agriculture, Florin Barbu. This measure aims to reduce costs for farmers, who currently face delays in VAT refunds. The initiative will be implemented alongside the extension of reverse taxation for cereals, which expires at the end of 2026. Barbu emphasized that this change would alleviate financial burdens on farmers, allowing them to buy diesel directly at the pump without additional taxes. He also mentioned a potential mechanism for farmers to acquire diesel at lower prices through special certificates, which would simplify the purchasing process and eliminate bureaucratic hurdles. Barbu received a favorable opinion from parliamentary committees for his ministerial position.
