A 30-year-old man, Vlad Bălțățeanu, is suspected of murdering his 28-year-old girlfriend, Valentina Ionela Tănasie, on September 21. After allegedly killing her, he placed her body in a suitcase and disposed of it in a lake in Zăvideni, Vâlcea. The police were alerted when a man discovered the suitcase containing the body. Initial investigations revealed that the couple lived together, and there were no prior reports of conflict between them. However, Bălțățeanu had a history of domestic violence with a previous partner. A necropsy indicated that the victim suffered severe injuries. Bălțățeanu is currently on the run, having reportedly left the country shortly after the incident. Authorities have apprehended a man suspected of aiding him.
