Russia plans to allocate 17.1 trillion rubles for defense in 2027, marking a significant increase from previous budgets since the Ukraine invasion. Total defense spending is projected to reach 50 trillion rubles over the next three years. The government has also raised its budget deficit estimate for 2026 to 3.2% of GDP, with overall budget expenditures increasing by 13.2%. New tax measures are expected to be introduced to address the growing deficit, including a tax on exceptional profits in the mining sector. Public debt is anticipated to rise to 21.7% of GDP by 2027, exceeding the 20% threshold deemed safe by authorities.
