The 2.5 billion euro advance from the SAFE program will not be automatically allocated to Romania's 35 investment projects. Payments depend on the implementation status of each project and procurement procedures. The funds, representing 15% of the total 16.7 billion euro allocation, primarily target defense, with 75% for military equipment and civil defense. The remaining 25% focuses on national transport infrastructure. Future funding tranches are contingent on meeting specific milestones. The Ministry of Finance will manage these funds, ensuring projects progress according to the established timeline. The European Commission emphasizes that access to the total amount is not unconditional and will follow the fulfillment of agreed milestones.
