The Romanian government has initiated a project to provide emergency financial support for agriculture, aimed at offsetting rising fertilizer prices in 2026 due to the Middle East crisis. The measure, backed by EU regulations, has a budget of 314 million lei, funded equally by EU grants and the state budget. Payments will be processed by the APIA by February 28, 2027. As Romania lacks domestic fertilizer production until next spring, all fertilizers will be imported. The support targets various agricultural producers, requiring them to be registered with APIA and to provide proof of fertilizer purchases. Grants vary by crop type, with specific amounts allocated per hectare for different vegetables and grains. Applications must be submitted to APIA within 15 working days after the regulation's publication.
