APIA has released guidelines for state aid schemes supporting cattle and pig breeders, established in 2026 due to the Middle East crisis. The guidelines detail eligibility, required documents, application procedures, and payment calculations. For cattle, aid is available to breeders with at least 10 bovines or 5 in mountainous areas by March 1, 2026. The aid amounts to 68 euros per animal, with a maximum of 50,000 euros per beneficiary. In the pig sector, support is for authorized breeders, with aid of 11.9 euros for fattening pigs and 13.7 euros for breeding animals, also capped at 50,000 euros. Applications must be submitted to local APIA centers.
