Băncile europene nu pot ține pasul cu ambițiile UE. Avertismentul Autorității Bancare Europene
François-Louis Michaud, head of the European Banking Authority, highlighted that the fragmentation of the European banking market hinders banks from achieving the necessary scale for financing major EU investments in digitalization, economic security, and defense. Despite strong capitalization and profits, banks face challenges due to a market that is not as unified as it should be. The European Commission is working to mobilize investments and facilitate cross-border banking activities. Michaud pointed out that differences in tax systems and insolvency regimes increase operational costs for banks. He advocates for better financial integration and credit growth to enhance competitiveness against U.S. banks, while also calling for regulatory simplification to focus on significant risks.
