Avram Iancu has successfully swum across the English Channel in breaststroke, becoming the first Romanian to achieve this feat. His journey lasted 24 hours and 46 minutes, marking a significant personal and national milestone. Iancu expressed the immense physical and mental challenges he faced during the swim, describing it as one of the hardest experiences of his career. He is now among the top ten men worldwide to complete this challenge in breaststroke, ending an 11-year gap in such achievements. Iancu dedicated this swim to his 50th birthday and received widespread admiration for his determination and resilience.
