Avertismentul unui pneumolog după ce fumul incendiilor din Serbia a învăluit Timișoara: "Poate afecta aparatul respirator, inclusiv în cazul persoanelor sănătoase"

Pneumologist Cristian Oancea warns that smoke from wildfires, like that affecting Timișoara, contains harmful particles and gases that can impact respiratory health, even in healthy individuals. Symptoms may include throat irritation, chest tightness, and difficulty breathing. The smoke can also contain carbon monoxide, which poses a greater risk to those with pre-existing respiratory or cardiovascular conditions. Oancea advises reducing outdoor activities during heavy smoke and keeping windows closed. Masks may help with fine particles but not with gases. Individuals with chronic respiratory issues should continue their prescribed treatments and seek urgent medical attention if severe symptoms arise.
