Romania may face around 12 crises in the next year due to four fundamental imbalances: inadequate energy, fragile public finances, delayed infrastructure, and ineffective administration. The Association for Intelligent Energy warns of potential crises in energy prices and supply, especially during cold winters or geopolitical shocks. The country faces challenges with aging coal capacities, insufficient gas plants, and reliance on imports. High energy prices and potential local outages are anticipated, alongside a looming fiscal crisis due to budgetary pressures. The agricultural sector is also at risk from droughts, impacting food prices and availability. Overall, Romania's situation could lead to a significant economic and social crisis by winter 2026/2027.
