Commissioner Dan Jorgensen highlighted the need for member states to prepare for winter by considering measures to support gas storage and decrease energy demand. Currently, EU gas storage is about 70% full, which is lower than last year. While Europe is not facing supply shortages, rising prices pressure countries to fill gas reserves before winter. Jorgensen noted that the EU is better prepared than in 2021, thanks to increased LNG imports and renewable energy development, but urged governments to take action.
